Owls Fly High with Ladies Day Statement Win Over Eagles

The Uni-Norths Owls made a statement on Ladies Day, securing a 40-14 victory over the Gungahlin Eagles in front of a fantastic crowd. This marks their third win of the 2025 season, and the day was made even more special by the electric atmosphere, as the Owls took to the field with a strong sense of pride and determination.

The first grade men’s team was determined to put on a show, and they did just that. The match saw a flurry of tries, with Christopher Mickelson and Samuel Mickelson both crossing the line early in the game, supported by successful conversions from Samuel Toa. The Owls’ dominance continued with a penalty try and a well-executed effort from Jimmy Plowman, extending their lead. As the game progressed, Issy Vaili added to the tally with a try, though the conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

With time winding down, Liae Tuilagi added the final try of the match, with Harvey Mclean stepping up to convert, rounding off the Owls’ commanding win. The Owls’ tactical substitutions played a key role in maintaining their control of the game, with Reilly Pickering coming on for Vaotangi Mafi, Harvey Mclean replacing Samuel Toa, and Will Hodge taking the place of Christopher Mickelson.

Off the field, the day was equally successful, with a lively crowd coming together to celebrate the women who support the club. The festive atmosphere, combined with a strong performance on the field, made for an unforgettable Ladies Day at ANU North Oval.

With this win, the Owls continue to build momentum in the John I Dent Cup, leaving fans excited for what’s to come in the next round.
