City squads announced ahead of Capital Cup clashes at Jamison Oval

Brumbies City men’s and women’s squads have been selected ahead of the annual Capital Cup, which will this year be played at Jamison Oval on the 14th of September. The Brumbies City Women’s team will be looking to go back to back in 2024, after Brumbies Country took out the inaugural trophy in 2022.

Looking forward to another close tournament, the Capital Cup has seen four different winners in the past four competitions, when including 2022’s City North and 2023’s City South victories. The men’s competition has been equally well contested, with the Capital Cup having seen a different winners in each of the past four iterations, most recently Brumbies City South in 2023. This year, North and South will combine to form a single team, Brumbies City, who will be the hot favourites.

Both the men’s and women’s coaches have had their work cut out for them, combing through each of the Premier grade sides in the ACT, with representatives from all six clubs being named in both of the City squads.

City Men’s assistant coach Cory Larsen said: “I am very excited to finally unveil the full City squad after going through many selection headaches as a result of great competition in the Capital.”

“Both myself and Joe Kolo [head coach] are very confident in the representatives we have selected. All of them have had great John I Dent Cup outings in 2024 and are primed for a strong Capital Cup campaign also.”

“The squad shows great depth and quality talent from across the John I Dent Cup competition, I’m looking forward to seeing the quality rugby they are capable of together after going head to head all year.”

“While our focus is solely on the Capital Cup currently, we are eager to see which players can continue their rugby journey in 2024 and gain selection into the Griffins squad following the Capital Cup.”

Both the men’s and women’s squads have been finalised now that the ACT Premier Rugby competitions have concluded and are available to view below.

The ACT u19s and Brumbies Country will fine tune their preparation for the tournament with a friendly at Conolly Park in Wagga this weekend.
