We are at the mid-point of the season and the season is shaping up nicely for Uni-Norths Owls.
In the premier grade, our women’s team, after a slow start to the season, is third on the ladder. Our men’s first grade team has been competitive but is running fifth on the ladder. Our second grade men’s team is second on the ladder after beating the undefeated Eagles in their last game. Our colts side has suffered injuries to key players and despite that they have improved as the season proceeded. We’re expecting their first win for the year very soon!
In the other grades, our women’s 10s team is expected to build on their one win of the year as they get back some more experienced players to balance the team out. In third and fourth grade, Owls sits top of their respective ladders undefeated. Both sides have picked up where they left off. Finally, reflecting the depth in the club, mighty fifth grade started the season with three straight losses and have since turned things around with three consecutive wins to sit third on the ladder.
Owls will be pushing hard towards the semi-finals over the next couple of months and as a club we’re excited about the possibility of adding further to our trophy cabinet!
Calling all old Owls players
Royals will be hosting the Owls and celebrating their 75th anniversary on 27 July at Phillip District Oval.
As part of the celebrations, they are keen to play two legends games. The games will be over four 15 minute periods with the women starting followed by the men, the women and finally the men to wrap things up.
The rules will be the normal rules with the exception of uncontested scrums and unlimited interchange. Royals will supply a referee.
For the men’s game, they are looking for players who are over 40 and for the womens they are looking for women who are over 30. Royals are looking to organise some insurance for those who are playing.
