May 9, 2025
The Uni-Norths Owls continue to fly high on the international stage, with four players named in the Wallaroos squad to face the New Zealand Black Ferns this Saturday, 11 May, at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle.
Siokapesi Palu – Captain and Blindside Flanker (No. 6)
Siokapesi Palu will once again lead the Wallaroos as captain, starting at blindside flanker. A fierce competitor and natural leader, Palu’s physicality and relentless work rate will be key as the Wallaroos aim to match the Black Ferns at the breakdown and in defence.
Faitala Moleka – Starting Fullback (No. 15)
Faitala Moleka has been named to start at fullback, providing a composed presence at the back with a strong kicking game and elusive running. Her ability to counter-attack and link with the backline will be a major asset in open play.
Tania Naden – Reserve Hooker (No. 16)
Veteran front-rower Tania Naden has been named as a reserve hooker. Known for her scrummaging strength and work around the park, Naden brings a wealth of experience and will provide impact off the bench.
Lydia Kavoa – Reserve Prop (No. 17)
Lydia Kavoa rounds out the Owls representation, named on the bench as a reserve prop. A powerful scrummager and tireless defender, Kavoa will play a key role in maintaining forward pressure late in the match.
The Test kicks off at 3:00 PM AEST on Saturday and will be broadcast live on Stan Sport.
With four Owls in the squad — including the captain — the club continues to be a driving force in Australian women’s rugby.
