Big Day of Footy as Owls Kick Off 2026 Trials

The Uni-Norths Owls got their first real hit-out of the year on Saturday 7 March, with teams spread across multiple venues in a big day of trial rugby ahead of the 2026 season. In Canberra, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, Colts and the Women’s XV took on Gordon in valuable pre-season match-ups, giving players and coaches their first chance to test combinations and build momentum heading into the year. The 2026 Capital Sevens delivered everything a festival of rugby should, blistering pace, last-gasp drama, and moments of individual brilliance, and the Owls were right in the thick of it across all three draws at the Bungendore Sports Hub. The Uni-Norths Owls Rugby Club is proud to announce Maddie Gogala and Oliver Wheatley as our Club Captains for the 2026/2027 seasons. Following a hugely successful year for the Owls, Maddie and Oliver take over the leadership reins from Emerina "Bubba" Marsh and Jordan Thompson, whose dedication and commitment have helped drive the club forward both on and off the field. What a night for our Uni-Norths Owls representatives! Both the men’s ACT & SNSW Griffins and women’s ACT & SNSW Kestrels put on standout performances against Rugby Victoria in their final clashes at Brumbies HQ on Saturday evening.
