The Paddy Matthews Cup is an annual 1st Grade clash between the Uni-Norths Owls and Queanbeyan Whites, held in honour of the late Pat “Paddy” Matthews, a beloved figure in ACT rugby.

Paddy played over 600 games for the Whites, including 154 in 1st Grade, and was known for his unmatched sportsmanship, dedication, and love for the game.

With strong ties to both clubs, including Golden Oldies tours with Uni-Norths, the Cup celebrates Paddy’s legacy and the values he stood for, loyalty, respect, and community.

Introduced in 2010, the Cup has been fiercely contested. It remains a proud tradition and a meaningful moment on the rugby calendar.
