Owls Fight Hard at Viking Park as Preliminary Finals Deliver Thrillers

It was another massive weekend for the Uni-Norths Owls, with preliminary finals action lighting up Viking Park as three of our sides battled it out for a spot in the big dance. The energy was high, the crowds were loud, and the Owls faithfuls once again turned up in force to get behind their teams.

Our Women’s XV led the charge, putting in a gritty, determined performance to take down Vikings 25-17. In a physical contest where every point mattered, the women dug deep and showed the heart and fight that’s defined their season. With the win, they book their place in the Grand Final and have their shot at the ultimate prize next weekend.

For 2nd Grade and 4th Grade, it wasn’t the fairy-tale ending they’d been working towards, despite incredible efforts right to the final whistle. 2nd Grade fell just short against Royals in a nail-biter, going down 15-19, while 4th Grade fought tooth and nail in another thriller but were edged out 22-26. Both sides can hold their heads high after outstanding seasons that showcased the depth, skill, and spirit within the club.

Yet again, the highlight of the weekend was the atmosphere. The Owls community came alive at Viking Park, players, family, friends and Old Owls, creating a wall of noise and support from the sidelines. It’s this energy and togetherness that make the Owls family so special.

With three team still flying the flag and a Grand Final on the horizon, the journey isn’t over yet. The 1st Grade, Women’s XV and 3rd Grade teams are ready to give it everything they’ve got, and we know the Owls community will be there in full voice to back them.
