From ’92 to Now: Owls Eye History in Grand Final Showdown
As the Uni-Norths Owls gear up for tomorrow’s Grand Final at Viking Park, it’s hard not to look back at one of the club’s most defining moments, the 1992 ACTRU 1st Grade Grand Final between ANU and Royals, long before the amalgamation that created the Owls we know today.
Back then, Royals came into the decider as heavy favourites. But ANU had other plans, pulling off a stunning 22–17 victory to secure the title in one of the club’s most famous wins.
Now, more than three decades later, the Owls have the chance to etch a new chapter into their history books. With three grades fighting for premiership glory tomorrow, the stage is set for a massive day for the club, the players, and the community.
Kick-off for the first of three back-to-back clashes begins at 11:40am at Viking Park.
