Owls Clean Up at ACT Community Rugby Awards
The Uni-Norths Owls are flying high after a standout night at the 2025 ACT Community Rugby Awards, walking away with a haul of individual honours, team accolades, and club achievements as the season heads into its final stretch.
Leading the charge was Chris Mickelson, who capped off an incredible year by taking home the MacDougall Medal for Best and Fairest in the John I Dent Cup, alongside finishing the season as the competition’s highest try scorer with 17 tries. Chris also earned a well-deserved spot in the John I Dent Cup Team of the Year, joined by teammates Samuel Toa and Sam Mickelson.
The Owls’ Premier Women’s program also shone brightly, with Meilani Whittle, Iris Verebalavu, Jane Garraway, and Elodie Galinier all named in the Premier 15s Team of the Year after stellar individual campaigns.
Off the field, the club was recognised for its leadership and community impact:
- Community Coach of the Year went to Shelley Bradshaw for her incredible work growing the game.
- Head Coach Lachie Creighton claimed the Michael Hickey Memorial Trophy and was named John I Dent Cup Coach of the Year for steering his 1st Grade Men’s team to new heights.
- Longtime volunteer Graeme Rowland was acknowledged with a nomination for ACT & SNSW Volunteer of the Year – a testament to his tireless dedication.
