Owls Give a Standing Ovation to Lydia Kavoa on her Retirement
It’s a moment of heartfelt respect from the Uni-Norths Owls as our own Lydia Kavoa announces her retirement from elite rugby, bringing an incredible chapter to a close.
Lydia, who first pulled on the Owls jersey and later made her mark with the Brumbies WXV and Wallaroos, retires having earned 14 Super W caps and 12 Wallaroos tests. Her journey from joining the club to becoming a powerhouse prop is one of resilience, adaptability and leadership.
At the heart of this announcement is a celebration of everything Lydia has achieved and the legacy she leaves behind. Joining the Owls community in 2019, her rapid rise has been anything but ordinary. As the Brumbies note, she “embodied every aspect of what we call a Brumbies’ athlete” – disciplined, driven and dedicated.
To Lydia: thank you for the blood, sweat and endless drive. You’ve worn our jersey with pride, and the Owls family couldn’t be more honoured to call you one of our own. You’ve inspired younger players walking through the club doors and shown what determination looks like in action.
Here’s to your next chapter, may it be as bold and brilliant as your rugby career.
