The Story behind the Vikki Fischer Medal
Vikki found rugby whilst studying at ANU in 1993 and immediately took to the physical aspects of the sport she has excelled in for almost 30 years.
Vikki’s commitment, enthusiasm, attitude and support of other women rugby players clearly displays her love of the sport.
She is highly respected, not only by rugby women, but by all ACT Rugby clubs and players.
Her achievements in rugby are immense. Below is a short precis of her successes.
Vikki has played for the following teams and clubs:
PLAYING
1993 – 2021 ANU Rugby Club (Now Uni Norths OWLS). These years are interspersed with time at other clubs as she assisted them to grow into viable teams
1994 Royal Vikings – in the Sydney Women’s Competition (winners)
1995 Canberra Kestrels, alongside the Kookaburras (mens) in the Sydney competition (Saturdays). Won the comp again and were not invited back to play in Sydney comp again.
Helped start the Canberra women’s competition by captain/coaching the Daramalan Eagles (Sundays). Other teams of the inaugural competition were Vikings, Royals, ADFA, Wests, Norths
1996-2000 Competed in the National Womens Rugby Championships (Capt 99-2000)
1997 Selected for the Wallaroos training squad.
2017 – 2020 Gungahlin Eagles Women’s team (played to help boost their team profile and to ensure the ongoing viability of the team)
2015 Started Rugby Tots program in Canberra – developing young players for the future.

2006-2010 Owls juniors (u7-u10s)
2010 ACT Women’s (with Drew Crozier)
ADMIN
In addition to playing rugby Vikki is an accomplished and experienced administrator

Best & Fairest ANU and OWLS – 2004; Eagles 1997
