Owls Announce 2025 Coaching and Management Staff

The Uni-Norths Owls Rugby Club is proud to announce the coaching and management staff for the 2025 season. As one of Canberra’s premier rugby clubs, the Owls continue to build on their strong foundation with experienced leadership across all grades. This year’s coaching team brings a wealth of expertise and passion to the club, setting the stage for another competitive and exciting season.

 

1st Grade

Leading the top squad, Laurie ‘Lord’ Fisher takes the reins as Coaching Director, bringing a lifetime of rugby wisdom to the Owls. Lachlan Creighton will continue on as Head Coach, supported by a talented group of assistants: Nick Jones, Mick Burrows, and Nigel Mulipola, who also serves as Senior Resource Coach. Off the field, Matt Kay manages the squad, while Alisha Koskinen leads the medical team and Costa Psihogios oversees performance and conditioning.

 

Premier Women’s XV

The Premier Women’s XV will be again led by Andrew ‘Ziggy’ Balmaks as Head Coach. He is joined by an experienced coaching team, including Geoff Davey, Joel Garbutt, and Rebecca Marlow. Katy Balmaks will manage the squad, ensuring smooth operations throughout the season.

 

2nd Grade

Jason ‘Plugga’ Smith returns to take charge of the 2nd Grade side as Head Coach, with Dave Purser assisting and also supporting senior grades. The team is well-supported behind the scenes, with Dan Hannan as Manager and Dave Hogden and Simon Briggs assisting in management duties.

 

Colts

The Colts program remains in strong hands, with Nick Jones appointed as Colts Director. Jason Lincoln steps in as Head Coach, assisted by Dan Kolek and Rob Krauss. Managers Andrew Whittle and Ben Norton ensure the program runs smoothly as they develop the next generation of Owls talent.

 

3rd Grade

Chris Linden will lead the 3rd Grade squad as Head Coach, supported by Assistant Coach Matt Hamill. Dan Maguire takes on dual roles as both Assistant Coach and Team Manager, ensuring the team is well-prepared both on and off the field.

 

4th Grade

David ‘Daisy’ Creagh and Shelley Bradshaw will continue to co-coach the 4th Grade squad, bringing a strong collaborative approach to the team. Brendan Magee will serve as Manager, keeping the team organised throughout the season.

 

Women’s 10s

Joel Garbutt will return to guide the Women’s 10s squad as Head Coach, with Rebecca Marlow assisting in coaching duties. Jayne Murray will again take on the role of Team Manager, ensuring the team is well-supported.

 

Canberra Suburban 1st Grade Green & Blue (5th Grade)

Owls Green (5th Grade): We’re excited to announce Kyle Wood, Lachlan Hird, and Jacob Maloney as Co-Coaches for our Owls Green side. This trio brings fresh energy, local knowledge, and a shared commitment to building depth and culture in the lower grades.

Owls Blue (Colts): Rob Krauss has been named as Head Coach, joined this year by Assistant Coach Marcus Burrell, with Andrew Whittle and Ben Norton  as Managers.

 

Looking Ahead to 2025

With a mix of experienced mentors and emerging coaching talent, the Owls are well-positioned for success in 2025. The club remains committed to fostering a strong rugby culture, developing players across all levels, and competing at the highest standard.
