Uni Norths Owls will move into the 2025 John I Dent Cup Season with a settled, and aspirational 1st Grade Coaching Team.
Head Coach of 1st Grade & Club, Lachie Creighton will return for his 3rd year at the helm for what’s shaping as an exciting year for Rugby as an Owl, in The Capital, and Australia more broadly.
Laurie Fisher (Coaching Director) has been instrumental in his support of the Coaching Team, providing hands-on coaching experience, review & planning insights, and invaluable conversations that all lovers of rugby wish to be afforded. We look forward to connecting with Lord following the Wallabies Spring Tour success.
Nick Jones (Assistant Coach – Defence & Lineout) has spent his off-season coaching in the Brumbies U19s as Assistant Forwards Coach, capping off 2024 as a Super Rugby U19s Champion!
Mick Burrows (Assistant Coach – Scrum & Collision) will enter his 2nd year as an Owl with a wealth of new & returning forwards to develop into a well-oiled machine.
Nigel Mulipola (Senior Resource Coach – Skill & System Development) is a new addition to the team, who’s no stranger to the John I Dent Cup, having spent 6-years Coaching with Canberra Royals, most recently having his finger prints on the 2024 John I Dent Cup Champion Team success. Nigel played with Wests Lions during their era of dominance in the early 2000’s before joining Royals as a player, prior to transitioning into Coaching at Philip Oval where his rugby knowledge, and nous of both individual & system skill development supported three 1st Grade Premierships. We look forward to welcoming Nigel, and his two boys, Christian & Ethan to their new home of ANU North Oval.
Matty Kay (1st Grade Manager) has also been plying his trade in the Representative environment, Managing both ACT City & the ACT&SNSW Griffins, who played a two-match series against the ACT Brumbies XV.

We’re a settled team who understands how each other operates, and what we expect from one another, and with the added inclusion of a fresh set of eyes, we’ll continue to refine our processes and ensure the boys are well prepared, and know the standards we set for ourselves as the 1st Grade Owls Team. This season didn’t go according to script, and everyone in our tent is aware of the challenge that lies ahead, and we’re relishing the thought of what’s to come with an equally motivated playing group.” says Creighton.
