Crown Versus Gown

Crown Versus Gown

Over a 30 odd year period starting in the 1960s, ANU played the Royal Military College (RMC) for the Hatchett trophy (a used artillery shell from the Korean War).

After a long break, the rivalry with the military was resumed on 21 April when students from Owls Rugby took on the cadets from ADFA for the Crown and Gown trophy. We’re intending to make this game an annual fixture in our rugby calendar.

As a result of the game, Owls Rugby is the proud holder of two new trophies (to go with the one won at the Kiama Sevens by our women’s team) following the 37-10 win by our women’s 10s team and a 15-5 win by our men’s team. Both games were entertaining and showed how strong the Owls will be throughout the season.
